Kaffrine

Kaffrine is a city in the Center-West of Senegal, located about 50 km from Kaolack.

History

In the year 1967, the poste of Senegal issued a stamp dedicated to the megalithic lyre stone of Kaffrine .

Administration

It is the prefecture (admin center) and the main town of Kaffrine Department. Kaffine was erected as the capital of its own region by Abdoulaye Wade in 2007

Since the year 2008, the Mayor of Kaffrine is Abdoulaye Willane, who took over from El Hadj Babacar Gaye.

Geography

Kaffrine is located on the National Road N1 Kaolack - Tambacounda.

The closest communities are Toune, Ngam, Kilometre Six, Diogo, Djigui et Lougue.

 Economic activities

 Kaffrine lives mainly on the Production of groundnut and trade.
