Description
Tuy Hòa is the capital city of Phú Yên Province in south-central Vietnam.
Demographics
The city has the total area of 107 km2 and the population recorded in the 2009 census was 122, 838 inhabitants. In 2012 it had an estimated population of 202,030.
The city is formulated mainly from alluvial of the downstream of Đà Rằng River. There are two mountains in the center of the city: Chóp Chài Mountain and Nhạn Mountain.
Tourism
Tuy Hoa is located roughly 100km south of Qui Nhon and roughly 120km north of Nha Trang. The city is nestled between a mountain and the Pacific ocean. The mountain is called Chap Chai. It is about 2 miles from the ocean. It is fun to hike this mountain because the paranomic view from the mountain is lovely. Sitting atop this mountain is a beautiful Cham Temple ruins. It is incredible to behold.
The main reason for traveling here is the stunning bays with incredible views and numerous beautiful natural quiet beaches. ( See Phu Yen Province)
There is a shopping area closer to the beach and it sells almost anything.
Tuy Hoa is known for its good food and hospitable people. They are warm and friendly and love tourists. The infrastructure is being improved and so it will be a lot better in a couple of years. But you ought to go to Vietnam now because it is still somewhat undeveloped.
Within a radius of about 5 kilometers, there are 3 national-level vestiges: Bai Mon beach Mui Dien cape, Da Bia Mountain, Vung Ro bay and many other beautiful beaches such as Bai Goc beach, Bai Bang beach in the north, the preserved forest of North Deo Ca Pass. This area has great potential for developing various types of tourism: marine relaxation, marine sports, mountain climbing, sightseeing, studying the eco-system of the sea and the forest.
Nui Bao Thap, a 14-th century Cham tower that sits high on a hill in the centre of town, Chop Chai Mountain along Route 1A -- a steep, 300 metre ascent with some truly amazing views of the ocean, the endless patchwork of rice fields, and the mountains in the distance, and 27km outside of town to the south is Da-Bia -- an unusually-shaped rock standing alone on top of a hill -- most tourists only get a glimpse of it, but it's an easy climb to get up-close-and-personal with the monolith, and be treated to the best views of all.
Accommodation
For style and comfort try the Cen Deluxe Hotel in Tuy Hòa City, that has a swimming pool and a ‘sky bar’ with panoramic views over rice fields and the foothills of the Annamite Mountains. Cheaper accommodation in Tuy Hòa can be found on Hùng Vương Street. There are only two hotels on the beach itself, and neither is a particularly good deal -- the places along the highway are a better choice.
banking, head to the Incom Bank on Hung Vuong Street, at the intersection with Nguyen Hue. It has an impressive range of services for a town that doesn't receive many western tourists -- traveller's cheques are cashed for a 2% commission, and credit card advances are available for a 3% charge -- foreign exchange is also available, as well as a 24-hour ATM.
The main post office is on Nguyen Hue Street, at the roundabout to the east of Hung Vuong. There's a 24-hour BIDV ATM here that takes foreign cards, in addition to postal and long-distance phone services. It's also a great place to head for internet -- there are a generous number of terminals and there are no video games, so most of the local kids here are doing homework and it's blissfully quiet. At 2,000 VND per hour, it's hard to beat the price.
Motorbikes are easy-as-pie to rent in Tuy Hoa -- most of the hotels seems to have bikes to rent for 60,000 VND per day, but if you strike out at your hotel, try the Viet Huong or the Da Giang on Highway 1A.
